On 21st July 2018 students of tourism and hospitality management course have visited The Olives (Residence + Suite) to utilize the opportunities for significant skill development and practical exposure to the industry. The Luxury residence & suite is situated in the diplomatic zone of Gulshan area, which is the centre point of the entire major corporation. ‘The Olives’ is the pioneer in Bangladesh of this kind of residence & suite where they are providing long staying opportunity with biggest room size consist of a Heavenly bed, a living, a dining, a study, balcony and fully equipped kitchen.
Tourism and hospitality management is a very popular course in Bangladesh and the demands for this program is driven by the expanding tourism and hospitality industry of Bangladesh as well as the employment and immigration opportunities in Europe and Gulf countries. Skilled management and labour needed to serve this growing sector can be supplied by the universities and institutes as they get more involved in capacity building by offering formal education and training.
THM students gathered at 09:00 AM at the main entrance of the hotel, had a thorough security check and were welcomed and led by CEO Dr. Maruf U Islam. The team then studied the outlets on the top floors and other residential floors followed by the gym, swimming pool, F&B outlets and spa areas. It was a very informative tour of the premises and facilities of the hotel that has provided a lot of practical knowledge and motivation for students. Through this field visit, THM students gathered valuable insight into housekeeping, F&B, front office, food production and general operational procedures of hospitality property.
