The contemporary business environment demands a strong link between the corporate sector and academia. The universities produce graduates to join the labor market at large, and the companies in return need universities to come up with programs that cater to their overall needs.
AIUB has always been a step ahead. It has always maintained a strong link with industry leaders and managers and from time to time asked for their feedback about the business program to be incorporated in the curriculum. Keeping this in mind, the Department of Management has invited two guests from the corporate sector to serve panelists in a talk show entitled: “Performance Management: Opportunities and Challenges” held in the Multipurpose Hall of the university on October 13, 2019. The guests were Mr. Shahriar Rahman, Manager Human Resources, Telenor Health (under Telenor Group) and Ms. Ismat Jahan, HR Consultant, Future Leaders.
The guests discussed that we have moved into an era where traditional support services – HR, Finance, IT, Administration, Legal, etc. are under increasing daily pressures to produce a more direct impact on business results. They further explained that Performance Management is an articulated plan that enables an organization to make optimum use of its people in order to achieve its goals and objectives. This means a lot for HR practitioners to connect their HR strategies to those with their employees.
It was a very fruitful session and the students enjoyed it thoroughly as the speakers had a very accessible attitude and personality. The session was followed by a Q & A session. In the end, the moderator of the talk show, Mr. A. K. Nazmul, Associate Professor, Faculty of Business Administration, delivered the Vote of Thanks and the Director MBA Program, Dr. Nisar Ahmed presented the guests with the souvenir.
