The Department of Operations and Supply Chain Management (OSCM), Faculty of Business Administration (FBA), American International University-Bangladesh (AIUB) organized a guest lecture session for the core students of Business Statistics, on July 31, 2019, at AIUB Campus, Annex-1 (Room-1107). This was part of a student development initiative for the core students of the Business Statistics course. The speaker was Dr. Mia Muhammad Mustafiz Munir, Assistant General Manager, and Faculty, BASIC Bank Training Institute, BASIC Bank Limited. The session was inaugurated by Dr. Saad Hasan Assistant Professor, Department of OSCM, FBA.
Dr. Munir has shared his real-life experience on the Supply Chain Management Practices in the Bank. More specifically as a case, he has shown how financial supply chain management works in BASIC Bank Limited. This includes receiving deposits to advancing loans. He has shown how these activities work through the retailer’s bank, manufacturer’s bank and supplier’s bank. The session was very interesting and interactive as the guest speaker and the students shared their experiences on relevant issues. Such sessions are very effective to help students to better understand the real-life applications of supply chain management in the service industry. The students were enriched and delighted to gain knowledge from experienced personnel.
The session was inaugurated by one of the honorable conveners of OSCM, Dr. Saad Hasan. In the end, honorable Head, Department of OSCM, FBA, Mr. Ashfaque A. Mohib, has concluded the session with a vote of thanks to the guest speaker for his informative discussion and appreciated the students for their interactive participation. The workshop was organized by Dr. MM Obaidul Islam, Associate Professor, Department of OSCM, FBA. Token of gratitude was presented to the guest speaker, on behalf of FBA, OSCM, AIUB.
