On November 12, 2018, a competition titled “ACCA-Clash of Ethical Minds” was organized jointly by the Department of Accounting, AIUB and Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA) - Bangladesh at Multi-Purpose Hall to give students an opportunity to enhance their skills. The competition has been arranged for the undergraduate students majoring Accounting & Finance. The main objective of this competition was to prepare students with necessary skills and knowledge regarding Accounting Profession. The resource persons from ACCA Bangladesh were Ms. Prawma Tapashi Khan, Education Manager; Ms. Rehana Sultana Shammi, Business Relationship Manager; and Ms. Noor-E-Fayzun Nahar, Business Relationship Officer. The ACCA representatives have shared the current and future prospect of the professional accountants with prestigious ACCA degree.
The competition was inaugurated by Ms. Farheen Hassan, Associate Professor & Director – BBA Program. Total 72 BBA students majoring Accounting & Finance, under 18 teams, have participated in the competition. There were three rounds of challenges in the competition (Round -1: Test of Communication and interpersonal skill; Round – 2: Test of personal effectiveness through Rebus Puzzles and Round – 3: Case analysis relating to Ethical Dilemma). The Champion, 1st Runner Up and 2nd Runner Up teams have been awarded with exclusive trophies along with lucrative cash rewards. All the 72 participants have also been given Certificates of Participation from ACCA. At the end of the program, Professor Dr. Nisar Ahmed, Director – MBA Program and Professor Maksudur Rahman Sarker handed over the appreciation certificate and gift hampers to the ACCA resource persons. The event was coordinated by Mohammad Faridul Alam, Associate Professor & Head, Department of Accounting with the cordial help of the faculty members of the Department of Accounting. The Department of Accounting humbly appreciates the openhanded support extended by the AIUB management in this regard.
