The Department of Marketing, Faculty of Business Administration (FBA), AIUB, organized a study tour on Thursday, October 17, 2019, as a part of the regular student development program for students of different Marketing Major Courses to the Igloo Ice-cream & Milk Unit located at Kadamtali I/A, Shampur, Dhaka. Igloo, a leading Ice-cream brand and a business concern of the reputed conglomerate of the country, Abdul Monem Ltd., achieved an ISO 22000: 2005 & HACCP Certification. The purpose of the tour was to gain first-hand insights on dairy products’ manufacturing process, distribution & market coverage, and strategy implementation. In addition to this, the tour aimed to update students' academic knowledge with contemporary marketing practices. The initiative was taken by Ms. Tahsina Khan, Senior Assistant Professor, and facilitated by Mr. Stanley Rodrick, Senior Assistant Professor, from the Department of Marketing, FBA in cooperation with the logistics and management support provided by AIUB.

The tour started from the university campus with the students and concerned Faculty Members. Upon arrival at the Igloo Ice-cream Production Unit premises, the tour participants were welcomed by the Factory officials and staffs. Then, the participants were divided into two groups of visitors, the first group was guided to the production floor visit by Mr. Md. Munjurul Haque, Assistant Manager (System Implementation), Quality Assurance Department. Meanwhile, the other visitors’ group attended a management briefing and Q-A session with Mr. A.K.M. Ali Reza, Senior Manager, Quality Assurance. After the first group’s completion of the production process observation, the second group made their visit to the factory operations site. During the program, all the participants were provided with refreshment snacks and Igloo Exotic and Igloo Doi flavored ice-creams. Later the study tour participants attended a vote of thanks session with the Factory officials for their generous hospitality. At the end of the session, Ms. Tahsina and Mr. Stanley conveyed an invitation for the Management officials of Igloo to visit the AIUB campus and thus strengthen the Academic-Industry linkage between the two institutions.
